DISAPPOINTMENT AT DEFEAT OF REFERENDUM. Sydney, February 26. Iu a letter Brigadier-General Paton refers to the disappointment of all ranks at the defeat of the referendum on conscription. He states- that the ranks arc sorely depleted, and if not reinforced the authorities will have to cut up one division to fill the others.— Press Association.
