TRAM ACCIDENTS. A' CHIIiD SEVERELY INJURED. Two accidents . connected with the city tramways occurred on Saturday, a boy and a man being severely injured. . Stanley Da.vis, aged six years, was run over by a tram in Vivian Street, close to the Panama Hotel, at 10 a.m. on Saturday. He appears to have been playing in the street at. the time. He sustained severe injuries, and When ho a.rrived at the Hospital it was found necessary to amputate his left arm below the elbow and his left leg below the knee. Last night the boy was reported to be making satisfactory progress. His father lives at 197 Tory Street. . Claude Sutton, .who lives in Johnston Street, Karori, was knocked down by a tram-car in Manners Street at 8 p.m. on Saturday. He had both legs badly crushed, but was reported last night to be doing well. A' man named George Shearer was struck by a locomotive at the Upper Hutt railway station on Saturday shortly after noon, and had 1 his thigh broken. He was admitted to tho Wellington Hospital.

While surf-bathing at Oceaji Beach, near Forbury, this morning, a man named Andrew Kay, about 25 years-of age, got into difficulties, and, although a good swimmer, was drowned before assistance could reach him. The hody had not been recovered this afternoon. Deceased was unmarried, and employed as an operator in the Telegraph Department. He had only r«:ently come to Dunedin from Auckland.
