MONTHLY MEETING OF THE BOARD. Messrs. H. Baldwin (chairman), 6. A. Monk, D. Campbell J. Smith, H. Van Stavoren, F. Castle, J. W. M'Ewan, H. Freeman, AV. Galloway, C. M. Luke, B. Burns, Rev. J. K. Elliott, Mesdames M'Laren, M'Vicar, and Platsa-Jlills'ivcre present at the monthly meeting of the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board held on Thursday afternoon. The Hospital 'Committee reported:— "That there are now (February 8) eight children in the M'Corthy Convalescent Home, and that the suggestion of the Medical Superintendent as under be submitted for. confirmation by the board:—"That if it is found that the place is not kept full by children sent from the Children's "Ward of the Wellington .Hospital, I would siiggeßt that any child be admitted if on inspection by the Medical Superintendent it be found be suitable. Appended is ' a suggestion form for the investigation of such cases.' " Mrs. M'Laren asked if the board as a- body should not visit the new Homo. The chairman said that a visit could bo arranged when members desired. Tho Home was now opened, and it was best to lot it go on without a formal opening. The clause was adopted. It was left to the superintendent to make what arrangements he thought desirable as to the appointment of a permanent matron to tho Macarthy Home. •The committee also recommended that the dependents of soldiers be wanted free dental treatment, if same be recommended by the AVar Relief Association. This was agreed to. It was decided that the thanks of the board be tendered to the executors of the late Mrs. A. Connor for the gift of an invlaid chair.. During the past month twelve patients wore admitted to the Otaki Hospital, S were discharged, and II were still under treatment in the Otaki Hospital. Seven patients wore admitted to the Otaki Sanatorium, 8 discharged, and 17 were still under treatment. The board accepted the surrender of Mrs. George's lease of Section 3, Salamanca Road, and granted in lion thereof a. new lease for a period of 21 years. The lessen is to contain a clause giving the Ipsspc a. right of renewal at the end of the term for successive terms of M years in perpetuity with valuation 'to Ascertain ground rent ?.t the end of the first and each successive term. The rent for the first period to bo £50 10s. ner annum, made up as follows:—Present, rental of unexpired term of lease. '£25: 50 per cent, increase, £12 10s.; annual payment for beard's interest in imnrovements. £13. Total. £50 10s. ■The lnssee to bo allowed to ewt three buildings at a cost of not less than £000 each or one building of not loss value than £2700. Mrs/Ellen Young was granted renewals of her leases, for a further poriod of 21 years, in terms of her present leases. It was decided that a snecial mooting bo held to consider the amended remits that wore recently considered by a conference of Ho«nital and Charitable Aid Boards. The anplications for the nositinn of matron of the Wellington Hospital is to be considered at the same special meeting.
