H'Carthy, S.M., to-day, in which W. A. Lyon and Henry Redwood, two officials of the' Woodvillo Racing Club, were charged with permitting investments on the totalisator at the la-st meeting,- i after the time notified by the cluß for starting the races. The police evidence snowed that in six out of the eight events on the first day money had been aocepted after the notified time for starting, but no allegation of corruption was made.. The defence contended that sufficient notice of the , starting time was given, and the stew-i ards reserved the right to alter the starting time as notified in the race books. ■'.•■■' ' ~.,-■'
