FARMERS AND THE BALLOT
(To ttq Editor). . sir.—Anyone looking through the lists of the last ballot must be struckby the number of farmers and farm assistants that We been drawn. _ Ib is about time the Ministry looked' into this matter, as it is • a very serious state of affairs. Several farmers are win" up all agricultural work audi putting their places into grass, and will just'graze sheep or cattle,- as skilled labour is not to be had, andsucK amateur workers as are available demand! exorbitant wages. Surely the Government will have moro foresight than to deplete the country of farm workers. — lam ' etC - J MiANAWATU.
