From a promising-looking morning in the City yesterday, the sky gradually darkened to a dull grey, and with the easterly wind which freshened during the day came somo scattered rain. Present indications, says the official report, aro for east to south-easterly winds generally. Gales with heavy rain and flooded rivers are probable- northward of Farowell Spit and Kaikonra.
