WAIROA MEAT WORKS IN OPERATION
A NEW ENTERPRISE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wairoa, February 20. The Wairoa farmers' Co-operative Meat Company commenced killing at S.du this morning, with twenty butchers on the board. The works, which are situated on the banks of the Wmroa Hiver. have a killing capacity of '2000 sheep and 50 cattle per day and a large storage capacity. As the works at Gisborne and Napier, on either side, nre eighty miles distant, the Wairoa Meat Works wul fill a long-felt want, and add enormously to the development of one of-the- best pastoral districts in the Dominion, ilje eapital of the company has been subscribed by the farmers of the district, and the works, which are of ferro-cqii-creie throughout, were erected bv labour under the supervision ot i-.r.
