The work of unloading the cargo of *oal .on the s.s. Kittawa was resumed . yesterday by the mon on the old conditions. Burton block-tackle was used. This does not mean that the matter is settled, however, although pos- . sibly the chances of final settlement ; sire good. ; The. unions anxious to/have this Burton, block controversy ■decided by a special dispute committee, but the clauses in the agreement regulating work on the wharf provides that there can be no reference of any matter to ajdisputes committee unless work is continued by the men without interruption. The men went back to work on ■' the Kittawa'yesterday morning, and a special committee was set'up to inves-. tigate the questions raised about the use of this tackle. The committee con- ' sisted of two representatives of the •■ union and two representatives of the employers, with a' chairman or arbittrator elected' I'v these four members.. The representatives of the union were Messrs. G. Smith and -T. Tawrenson, and of the emplovors Cantain Reeves and Mr. W. H. G. Bennett. The arbitrator elected was Captain Attwnod. The committee sat for tl'e whole of the day until 6. p.m., henrinn; pvidenc nnd arntiment. This part of its work is. finished, but it is improbable t/hat' a. decision will be given on the questions raised before this evening.
