Mac Donald, Act-': ing-Leader of tlio Liberal Party, who presided at a'meeting of delegates here last night, lias authorised publication of the following report of the proceed-ing's:—"Twenty-four delegates werepresent, representing twenty centres, • together with members of the executive of the Hastings League: A reso- \ lution that the Minister be recommend- ! od to nominate Sir John Findlay as' the official candidate for the Hawke'ai Bay seat was'carried unanimously." , Another account states that p/oceed-j ings were not unanimous, that tli9-i bona fides of, somo of the delegates I. were challenged, and that seven dele-; gates, who also held proxies left the' meeting and were nob present wheal tho vote was taken.
