■Mr. T. H. Taplin, , who for some months pait has been on tho CarteTton staff of. the Agriculture Department, 1 ha 6 been transferred to Pembroke, .Central Otago, where he takes up the duties of Inspector of Noxious Weeds. Bowlers are taking a good deal of interest in the Carterton versus Masterton match, to he contested on the Mastertoh green on Saturday next, as it will decide the holders of the ehield. Carterton proved victorious by a substantial margin when these clubs last met. Tlip .northern team on this occasion will 1)0 playing on own green, ivith entirely a new combination, arid are very hopeful of success. The Mastorton rinks will ho:—Hoskings, Hope, H. Perry, Staples (s.); Thurston, Blinkhbuse, Ewington,. C. .P,erry (s.); Jil'Calder," Rose, Lawrence, 0. Pragnell (s.). ■■■.. '.., . In tho bowling con,test for tho Booth Cup, tho Carterton and Featherston Clubs have each threo wins and one floss to their credit, and now havo to play off and decide which club will meet Masterton in the final. Tho Carterton Club are tho present holders of the Cup.
