NATIONAL RESERVE
DOMINION CONFERENCE OPENED.
A meeting of the Governing Council and conferenco of representatives of the- National Boserve of New Zealand opened at the Reserve Headquarters, 157 Featherston Street, yesterday. Present were: Colonel Porter, C.8., presiding, with the District Commandants and representatives: Wellington. Lient.-Colonel Brandon, Majors Davis' V.D., and Morison, K.Q.; Auckland, Lieut.-Colonel Anderson, Captains Drew and Donll; Canterbury, Major C. B. Morris, Lieut...Thomas'; Otago, Lieut.Colonel gtoneham, V.D.; Southland, Captain Praiu; Nelson, Lieut.-Colonel Davey. Lieut. Gurr represented Dannevirko Group, and Lioiit.-C'olonel Troup tho Railway Engineers. In opening the meeting the president welcomed the officers and thanked them for their attendance, outlining the object of tho conference, which was to consider various matters for the welfare of the Reserve and to review the work of tho past year. A number of important resolutions were passed, full particulars of which will appear later.
A deputation of five of the principal officers was appointed to wait -upon the Hon. Sir James Allen, the .Minister of Defence, to : day, relative to matters of vital importance to the Reserve. The- council and conference adjourned sine die, with hearty votes of thanks to the president and staff officers.
