A vote of sympnthv to the family of the late Mi-. Alfred G. Fell was passed at a meeting of the Otago Chess Club on Saturday evening. The president (Mr. L. D. Coombs) 'apd IMr. U. A. Cleland referred to the. splendid work that Mr. Fell did for chess, both as a player and in his position as lion, secretary of the New Zealand Association:' Mr. Fell played his last match game nine 'month's ago for Wellington 'nijainst Canterbury, and when the Otago match was played sliortly afterwards. and he was too ill to attend, he bad the results of each night's play telephoned to his residence. Mr. A.
