WAR HONOURS FOR NEW ZEALANDERS ' MILITARY CROSS AWARDS. (Rec. February 14, 0.25 a.m.) London, February 13. The followTng Military Crosses have been awarded to the New Zealand Rifle Brigade:— Lieutenant AV. AV. Dove, for planning a raid. Lieutenant B. Mollison, for penetrating tho onemy's lines and inflicting great loss. | Distinguished Conduct Medals: Sergeants G. H. Boles and AV. M'Conachy. i• Meritorious Service Medals: Private R. T. Golding (Auckland), and Gunner H. AVaugh.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. FOR VALOUR SPLENDID HEROISM OF AN AIRMAN. London, February 12. The Press Bureau states that a Victoria Cross has been awarded to Sergeant Thomas Mottershead, of the Flying Corps. He was attacked at an' altitude of 9000 ft., his tank was pierced, and the aeroplane was enveloped in flames. Though suffering extreme torture from burns, he showed conspicuous bravery, presence of mind, and skill in selecting a. landing-place, and brought his machine back to the lines. His wonderful endurance and fortitude saved the observer's life. Sergeant Mottershead subsequently succumbed to bis injuries.—Aus.-N.Z. Cablo Assn.lteuter. GERMAN MEAT RATION INCREASED (Rec. February 13, 7.10 p.m.) London, February 12. Tho "Daily Telegraph's" Rotterdam correspondent states that Berlin's meat ration has been increased by SJoz., and is now Jib. per week.
