Paris, February 12. The newspapers give great attention to the British advance, characterising it as of real importance. The papers suggest that the British should definitely ascertain whether the German retirement is wholly forced or represents some new tactical device.—Router.

London, February 12. Sir Douglas Haig reports: "Wo made further progress yesterday in tlio neighbourhood of tho Beaiieourt-Puisieux road, and occupied six hundred yards of trench without difficulty. A Gorman counter-attack southward of Serro Hill was caught by our artillery barrago and easily repulsed. We entered the enemy's lino .in a number of places, and ■exploded an 'ammunition dump south-east of Arniientiores. —Aus-N.JC. Cable Assn.-B,enter.
