Sayed Ahmed, at the head of tho main body, was forced to strike southwards into tho waterless desert. These operations aro a sovore blow to the Senussi, whose main body was surprised, defeated, and forced to , retire into the desert, their casualties reaching 200 killed and wounded. Wo captured largo quantities of stores and ammunition.
