CONFERENCE ENDS THE VISITORS ENTERTAINED. • The annual conference of the New Zealand Federation of Master Plumbers was concluded yesterday. It was decided to hold the 191!) conference in Invercargill. The executive will be located in Auckland for the coming year. The ]!)18 conference will be held in Wonganui. A resolution was carried that the ex- . ecutive select subjects 011 matters concerning sanitary plumbing and arrange | for papers thereon to be read at meet- [ ings of affiliated unions. Conference decided to present a medallion to the first president (Mr. A. Burt, jnnr., of Auckland). It was also decided that Mr. Wm. Judd, the retiring president, be given a medallion. It was resolved that in any decisions by the Court, or legal opinions referring to cases wherein master plumbers are engaged, full particulars Ire sent to the federation executive for record, and for circulation amongst affiliated unions. S. La Trobe proposed the'toast " of the Federation of Master Plumber.?. " He said that ever since coming to Wcl- • lington had been closely connected with . members of tho trade. The federation made the placing on the Statute Book ; of the Plumbers' Registration Act one ' of its first works, and that would make > ' for the sanitation and wellbeing of the 1 people morn almost that any single f measure. The federation had taken a i- deep interest in' the training of the young plumber, and had always endea--7 voured to meet the requests of the direcJ tors of technical schools. The 'work of ' the Plumbers' Board had been snccess- ' ful largely on account of its practical constitution. He hoped the federation l would long continue in its laudable en--5 deavour to serve the public and conserve the health of the people. The federation j had always, he believed, done its best for the journeymen. „ Replying to the toast, t'lie chairman S said that Mr. La Trobe was the rigTi? g man to have at the head of a technical A school. j At this stage the president and officers .were installed. The new president, Mr. Fisher, Auckland, being called on for a speech, advocated organisation. He urged on the !I members of the trade to do their best c to maintain a strong federation. The toast of the Wellington Master Plumbers' Union was proposed by Mr. A. Burt, inn., and responded to by Mr. A. E. Wells, ill'. Burt referred to the !| ho'spitalitv Wellinston bad extended to '? the visitors, and Mr. Wells assured the " visitors that Wellington had been set an excellent example by other towns m ' s which the conference had been held.
