Mr. W. J. Courtier (Government instructor) stated that he had seen in the auction marts of Dunedin and 111vercargill cases of fruit bearing the brands of well-known Christchurch growers exposed for sale. All these cases had been refilled, and the reputablo brands were made to cover very inferior fruit. He urged the association to take every step it could in the way of preventing this practice. It was damaging to tlie most reputable brands. Mr. J. Longton endorsed Mr. Courtier's remarks. A fruiterer in Christchurch liatl informed him that cases bearing his brand often came to his shop with inferior contents. He (the fruiterer) was induced by the brand to purchase the fruit, only to find it of an inferior nature. Jlr. Wray anid that ho branded Ins cases on the top. It was a precaution. He considered, ■. however, that, while was necessary, the fee for that registration was much too heavy. It was 355. The matter then dropped, it beino stated that the federation was considering the question. The fruit supply difficulty, already serious by reason of the small proportion of blossoms that fructified this season, and tlie inroads of the ripe rot, will have been accentuated by the effects of tho stormy weather of the last few days. Quantities of fruit remaining on the peach and nectarine trees have been materially thinned out by. the gale, thus lessening still further the yield fit to be placed on the market—Auckland "Herald." News has reached this offioe that the demand is greater than ever for Parton's famous Victor Cliense Vats. Orders arc being executed in. rotation, and by placing your order to-day, you can be sure of comparatively early delivery. Middle drainage and sloping bottom are outstanding features. Get details.
