TECHNICAL EDUCATION BOARD
The monthly meeting of the Wellington Technical Education Board last evening was presided over by the Hon. J. G. W. Aitken, who was elected lo fill the chair in the absence of the chairman.
A motion of sympathy with the chairman of the board, Mr. G. Frost, in the recent loss of his wife, was carried.
An expression of regret at the death of the Hon. Dr. M'Nah was also recorded in the minutes.
The Director of • Education brought' under the board's notice the provision made for appeals by employers, under the Military Service Act. It was decided that the board take no action in the caso of reservists in its employ who may be called upon to serve. The matter of obtaining a new school site 1 and sufficient accommodation for present needs was reported to be acute, but it was found necessary to hold the question over pending a convenient opportunity for a Ministerial interview. ■ • Mr. A. T. Clarke, senior instructor in book-keeping, and Mr. W. S. Wheeler, instructor in book-keeping, both tendered their resignations, and Messrs. Barclay and H. Bolton were appointed to take charge of the respective classes. H. W. Johnson, senior plumbing instructor, was granted leave of absence to enter Featherston Camp and there take up the duties of sanitary inspector. Mr. T. W. Martin, B.A. was appointed English master, and Miss Doris Bates assistant commercial mistress.
