RESERVISTS' APPEALS
THIRD WELLINGTON BOARD SITS. The Third Military Service Board sat in Wellington on Saturday. The members of the board were: Messrs. W. H. S. Moorhouse (chairman), A. Considine, M. J. ftack, and Captain Percy Baldwin (military representative). Decision was given in three cases heard last week. In the case of George Murray Ness, mercer, Hawkestone Terrace, who had stated in evidence that , he was supporting his widowed mother and family, the board adjourned final decision until April 2, granting exemption from service in the meantime. The appeal of Archibald Walker, jun., marine engineer, who has been employed in his father's office on shore, was dismissed. The .board, dismissed the appeal of Edward Draper,, farmer, Pahautanui, but granted leave until March 31. WANGANUI CASES By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, February 3. The Military Appeal Board opened its first sitting in Wanganui to-day. Thirty cases were listed, and fourteen were dealt with. In the case of the Itoscoe brothers, the eldest was exempted owing to medi> cal unfitness. One withdrew his appeal, and two others who appealed ou the grounds of undue hardship and medical unfitness, as well as of public interest, had their appeals dismissed. Douglas Drummond appealed on the grounds of undue -hardship and public interest. He stated that if he went nobody could take his place. Witness, who is 35 years of ago and single, said that his people were in comfortable circumstances. He admitted that it would be no hardship for his business to be sold up, and for him to go to the front. '-The appeal was dismissed.
