NO LABOUR FOR SUNDAY WORK

When Mr. Stubbing, employers' representative, attended at .noon, as is customary, to engage labour for working the steamers Monowai and Aralnira on Sunday, no labour was offering. This work has been hitherto much sought after, owing to the remuneration, 3s. 6d. per hour: The work of loading timber for Sydney by the Joan Craig was suspended at noon to-day, the men declining to work on Saturday afternoons.
