'-..• = Now that the reconditioning 'of "thel Marama and Maheno has been completed and all the accounts in connection therewith having been settled, the-Da. ■ partment of Internal.Affairs has hand- ' -* ed to His Excellency a statement which, shows the receipts as £61,131 4s. 3d. The expenditure was: (a) No. 1 hospital ship, Maheno—First voyage, ■ £15,021 lis. Bd.; second voyage, £2229 4s. 9d.; third vovage, £2116 ss. lOd.; total, £19,367 '2s. 3d. (b) No. 2 hospital ... ship, Marama: First voyage, £15,559 , 18s. Id.; second voyage, £4690 4s. lid:; total, £20,250 3s. (c) No,wspapcrs supplied to hospital ships and hospitals, Malta, £257 ss. Id.; comforts tot wounded in Egypt, £1000; tobacco and papers for i\e\\\ Zealand sick and wounded in Egypt, £150. (d) Equipment of WalTon Hospital, 210,000; equipment for No. 1 and No. 2 Stationary Hospitals, £500 —leaving a balance in'hand of £9606 13s. lOd. ■;'■■■ As explained in previous balance sheets, items (cj and (d) have beenr.e- ---■ paid by the Patriotic Societies of the four centres, and this sum is included in the total receipts.
