HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. A now programme was presented at His Majesty's Thcatro lastovoning. Bert La Blanc's Musical Travesty Stars presented "Tlio Gay Mrs,. Cohn, a ono-act musical scream," which turned out to bo quito one. of the best of tho La Blanc rovues. The plot is characteristically revuc-liko; it iB terribly Though it hinges on nearly nothing, it may bo said that tho gay Mrs. Colin is tho wife of lko Colin, who has a habit of having money left to him. She spends most or it by buying drapery and •• riding in taxis instead of in "turnpenny trams," as tho sorrowing husband puts it. As Ike Cohn, tho unhappy roan of moans, Bert La Blano knocks a lot out of his part. Ho shoulders more than an equal sharo of the work, and gotfi through well. As Levi, the draper who is after Cohn's money, Jake Mack is excellent. As a salesman ho has the highest of all qualifications—that of putting up tho prices when he, sees Mrs. Cohn coming. Maude itiles, is very attractive, iu tho rolo of Mrs. Cohn. The ballets in tho piece are very pretty, and tho' whole thing goes with an excellent swing. Among the solos tho most appreciated ,wora thoso of Itfr. Carlton Chase—"Tho Town Where I Was Born," "Baby Shoos," and "Bonnie, My Highland. Lassie". In. the othor portion of tho bill Bomo entertaining artists appear, including Tho Trleys, Gwonnfe Hasto, Edwards and Parkes, Tsuda, and Walter Emerson. The comedy work of Emerson is distinctly good. THE KIWS. That splendid manly portrayer of badman xole3, W. b. Hart, excels all past performances in his latest picture, "Tho iieturn of Draw Egan," in which, ho custars w.ith Louise lilaum, of "'Wolf .Woman" fame. The picture describes a tale of a wild desert mining town, in which lawlessness is rifo until a notorious road agent is made marshal by tho unsuspecting town committee. Hart restores order, and withstands tho teniptings of tho saloon, siren wins romancß and a pardon. Mr. Mack Bennett has chosen some very attractive beauties for the comedy, "The Surf Girl," and thiscomedy raises loud laughter nightly. . EVERYBODY'S. Despito tho heat yesterday there.--were big attendances at all sessions nt this house, where "Billio Burko' / in "Peggy," a Triangle special feature, is tho'attraction. 'Peggy" was produced by Thomasi luce, and is Miss Burke's initial screen appearance. Whether in pink pyjamas, iu overalls, in evening drc3s, or in inon's. clothes, "Peggy" is. altogether charming and elfishly beautiful. Tho pranks she' plays in the staid Scotoh village, tho. intensity, of the scone w;horo. she shows up the narrow-mindedness of tho viUagoelders who are passing sentenco upon a fallen girl, and tho boyish devilry alio puts into her work niako her tho most delightful screen vision seen for. sorno time, THE.EMPBESS. - Alice Brady, in "La..Bohemo," is tho .premier attraction at tho Empress, and 'Murgert famous story bids fair to succeed as well in its picturised form as it has dono as an opera and ns a book. Selections, from Glucinni's beautiful score played on the- organ add nruok to the enjoyment of the picture, which moves from laughter to tears in its portrayal of tho cure-free life of tho Quarticr Latin. Mr. Massey inspecting troops in London and receiving tho honour of the Freedom of that metropolis is an interesting feature of tho Topical Gazette.
