THE PARCEL FUND
Sir,—l see by your paper that Mrs. Luke is making an appeal to the public on behalf of our boys at the front to provide them with parcels. . I trust most earnestly that this effort will meet with most hearty support, for, judging from letters received, the men in France are having a very hard time. I have two boys there, and both write and say how bitterly the .New Zealanders feel the cold, and how very grateful they are for the continual parcels I send. One boy says: "We nave to light a fire and make hot drinks three or four times in the night in the trenches to keep warmth in us." And again, "The tins of cocoa and meat extract are especially welcome. Please put some of these in every time you send a parcel, as we appreciated them so much in the last one." Mothers and women of New Zealand will feci as I do, that for the sake of the brave men who have gone, ■ we must make every effort. Let us support aud help Mrs. Luke in every way we possibly can, and show, too, our keen appreciation for her constant efforts on behalf of our men.who have gone. I think if one of our leading papers could have a column devoted to extracts from letters from soldiers, and little comments as to those things most needed by them it would greatly help to awaken interest in the Parcel Fund. Thanking you for space given, to my letter, —I am, etc., MARY L. GORDON GLASSFORD. Levin, January 28.
