He was committed to the Auckland gaol. ■ A German .was brought from the Islands under escort, and it -iß' understood that he is charged with being in possession of firearms.
UNIVERSITY SENATE

Auoklarid, January 29.' The University Senate has' concluded. The, Statutes were formally completed. Hereafter a. supplementary examination in accountancy will be held in March. The Senate will meet in Wellington an April to consider the English examiners' reports for honours, "degrees, and scholarships. The next annual conference will be held at Dunedin in January, 1918. - .
