UNIVERSITY SENATE
« ' DEGREES CONFERRED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, January 27. The University Senate resolved that in considering the results of the November examinations in the case of returned soldiers who have not gained scholarships they would award such, soldiers as are found worthy by the examiners additional senior scholarships, not exceeding six in any year. The Senate conferred the. following degrees:— of Arts and Engineering (civil), Isaac Richard Robinson, Canterbury College; Bachelor of Arts, Kathleen More Brown (nee Glasgow), Otago; Bachelor of Laws, Frederick George Hall-Jones, Wellington. The Senate adopted a recommendation by the Law Committee that a Bill he drafted amending the University Act bv the addition of a proviso that save in cases of emergency of which the Senate shall be the sole judge, the Senate shall not appoint examiners or make or amend any statute or regulation concerning schemes of study or examinations until receipt of a report or recommendation from tho Boara of Studies, or unless the board- fails to present such. The Senate may adopt, reject, or amend a report or recommendation or take other action without further reference to the Board of Studies.
