(By "Jib.") .'.'"■.' The auxiliary Ruihi has been dismantled, preparatory to going on tho slip to have lier load keel removed, and will in all probability be converted into a launch. The small yacht Nikau has been purchased by Mr. Ted Haiinan, who has added some lead bulbs to her keel, which has greatly improved her. The ocean race to Port Underwood is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 3. The Rawene, lolanthe, and possibly the Viking aro the only likely participants at present. This race was won by the Muritai last time. The launch JDoris is to have a new 16-h.p. Sterling heavy duty engine installed on her return from tho Sounds, where she is at present on a_ cruise. '. This is a very fine-looking machine, and will certainly do more justice to tho boat than her present engine. The yaoht Ethel is at present in the market. Her present owner realises she is too big for single-handed sailing,' and intends getting a smaller craft. Tlio lolantho has been painted black ' on her topsides. It has not added to '. her appearance. In ..fact, she looks . very much smaller, but.ne doubt the , colour is more serviceable and economi- ■ cal than white. .'.-', .. ;
