BRITISH SHIPPING LOSSES THE LAST ROUND OPTIMISTIC VIEWS OF THE PROSPECTS ALLIES CONFIDENT HEAVY FIGHTING NEAR RIGA Mr. Lloyd-George has made an important statement on the subjust of the forthcoming Imperial War Council. Hβ regards the Council as the beginning of a new epoch, in the history of the Empire, and declares that he will not hesitate to hreak precedents at such a time. Satisfactory results have been reached at an Allied Naval Conference in London. Tho objects aimed at were improved coordination in the Mediterranean, both in the use of naval force and in the control of transports and other shipping. There is still rather a dearth of news from tho war theatres. Raiding operations continue in the Western theatre. The Germans claim that they have somewhat extended their counter-attack on th.e Eiga front.
