The members of St. Mary's Parish Church'are commencing their festival to-day. The opening ceremony -will be performed by Archbishop O'Shea -at 3 o'clock on the tennis court at the back of St. Patrick's Hall. The festival ■will be open every evening for a week. _ After three weeks' holiday in Wellington, Mrs. Herman Browne returns to-day to her home in Wanganui.

A yery enjoyable euchre party was held in the Anzac Club at Featherston on Thursdav night, when Mesdames W. Barton, B. Speedy, and W. Howard Booth and acted as hostesses. Miss Yiles and 1 Private Tapp were the most successful competitors, whilst Miss L. White and two other military v contestants shared the "honours" attached to winning the booby prizes. Vocal and other items of entertainment were given by Mesdames Ramsay and Peerless, Q.M.Sergeant Greenhow, and Private Strang. ' The weekly entertainmentseuchre and dancing alternately—are greatly appreciated by the,soldiers.
