CITY COUNCIL
The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke), Councillors W. H. P. Barber, J. Godber, J. Hutcheson, A. R. Atkinson, W.- J. Thompson, L. M'Konzie, W. H'. Bennett, M. F. Luokie, T. Bush, A. Veitch, W. Hildreth, and J. Fitzgerald were present at the monthly meeting of the City Council held last evening. ' The following contracts for advertising on the tram-cars "were approved:— AY" H. James, "The Burlington," Lambton Quay; S. Kirkpatrick and Co., Ltd., jam manufacturers, Nelson. The request'©!, the contractor for the supply of library books for a modification in the contract for tho year 191718, as far as prices are concerned, was not acceded to. The council will; insist upon the <hie performance of the contract. A letter of thanks was received from tho secretary of the Brooklyn School Committee with r<jjard to tfie "splendid selection (if books loaned to the school."
