RUSSIAN BAYONET CHARGE STUBBORN RESISTANCE AND HEAVY LOSSES OF A GERMAN DIVISION (Rec. January 25, 8.10 p.m.) London, January 24. Tlio lull on General Brusiloff's front is due to bad weather, which has broken. There was a sharp battlo near the woods on the heights surrounding the Trofcus River (in Moldavia). The Russians commenced the battle on Sunday with a bayonet charge. Thero was the fiercest lighting all night long. The German 2'2sth division, bcing oxpcrienccd soldiers, offered the most stubborn resistance. The Russians finally advanced two \ersts, capturing an important defencc.
