The vexed question of the nse( and misuse) of telephones on carriers' stands came before the City Council again last evening, when the By-Laws Committee reported that it had given instructions for a lisfc of all stand license-holders to bo placed in stand telephone boxes, in order that drivers .may know who were authorised to use tin' instruments. The telephones which havo not cabins at prosont, are to be enclosed in cabins as quickly as possible, and lioense-holders provided with a uniform key.
