E. R. WILLIAMS SENT TO GAOL. By Telegraph—Press' Association. Christchurch, January 24. E. IV. Williams was charged to-day on remand with making a seditious speech. Accused said ho would oppose conscription as long as he had a tongue in his head. He was an internationalist, was opposed to war, and would always fight against it. Mr. Bailey, S.M., said the defence was clever, but tho speech came under the War Regulations. Ho sentenced Williams to 12 months' imprisonment. CASE IN WANGANUI. Wanganui, January 24.. George Marvin was sentenced in the Magistrate's Court to-day .to ono month's imprisonment for a seditious utterance.
