Walking alonß the beach near Port Fairy (Victoria) a 12-year-old boy, . , named Rupert Arnold,.picked up a'bottlo which contained tho following missive:—"Dear Friend.—To whoever it may concern. On picking up this bottle and message, will you kindly communicate with my parents in Now Zea-land-and tell them I am well, fit, and happy. We are now -passing through on our way to the front. lam a member of a New Zealand Reinforcement, and am .going to do my bit against the Huns. My parent's address is Mrs. F. M'Nutt, care of. Mrs. Renouf, Clivo Square, Napier, Hawke's Bay, N.Z. If, -dear friend, you will do this little errand, it will indeed lighten a heavy .heart. I am the only son of the family and my parents-are old and would be delighted to bear ,of mo in such a mysterious way." Mrs. M'Nutt, who was delighted to get -the lotter, called at The Dominion office on Saturday to express her gratification at the prompt action of the boy who found the bottled correspondence. She explained that -the soldier was her only son,-and to allow him to go to thefront they had had to give up their ; farm, -as Mr. M'Nutt was not able to manago it without the assistance of his son. ..
