ENEMY ATTACKS REPELLED London, January 22. 'A French communique states: After a violent bombardment the Germans yesterday attacked north of Caurieres Wood, on the right bank of the Mouse. Our artillery and machine-gun firo twico broke the attacks. Wo held the whole of our front. There was active artillery work at night in the scctor of Pepper Hill.—Aus.-N.Z. Cablfj! Assn. Sir Douglas Haig reports: The enemy's attempted raids northward of .Arras and north-east of Ploegsteert, Wood were unsuccessful.
