SUPPLIES FOR THE RAIDER
GERMAN VES SELS DETAINED New York, January 22. Two German ships interned at Bio do Janeiro were discovered preparing to escape. It is stated that the raider's safety is deposing on their flight with needed supplies.—Aus.-N.Z. Cablo Assn. AN UNCONFIRMED REPORT Washington, January 22. Rio do Janeiro dispatches state that a. hundred sailors, belonging to the German gunboat Eber, which was interned at Rio do Janeiro, have escaped and joined tho raider. One unconfirmed report, which generally is not credited, says the raider has heen sunk by the cruiser Glasgow.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. INTERNED SAILORS JOIN THE RAIDER (Rec. January 23, 6.15 p.m.) Rio de Janeiro, January 22. The newspapers state that a hundred men from German gunboats interned at Bahia, embarked on a Swedish vessel recently, and left Rio de Janeiro to meet the raider—Router. HYSTERICAL JUBILATION . London, January 22. The "Daily Telegraph's" correspondent at Rotterdam states that the German , Press shows hysterical jubilation over tho successes of the raider. ft is stated that tho Ynrrowdalo's commander was formerly a leading seaman, named Badewita, who was promoted lieutenant when ho was aboard the Moewe. Ho took tlie British steamer 'Westbiiry to Tcneriffe, and landed prisoners, which had been taken from other victims of tho, Moewe, and there sank tho AVestbury.
