MAGISTRATE'S COURT

'At the Magistrate's Court yesterday, before Messrs. R. D. Hanlon and W. H Coy, Justices of the Peace, three women—Phillie Mellis, Agnes Mercer, and Hilda Koberstein—were all charged with attempting to commit suicido on divers dates. Each had previously pleaded guilty before a Magistrate, and remands were accordingly granted until to-morrow. Charles M'Donald, a member .or a reinforcement draft, was convicted of drunkenness. He had two previous convictions, and was fined 10s.,- with the'alternative of 48 hours in gaol. A similar penalty was imposed upon George Harloy, charged with insobriety. Edith Sheridan was fined 55., or 24 hours in custody. Frederick Herbert Campton, arrested on Saturday in a state of helpless drunkenness, was remanded for one week for medical treatment. James Joseph Malonoy was convicted and discharged for drunkenness. For using obsccno language he was fined 10s., or ordered to go to gaol for 48 hours. One month's imprisonment was imposed upon Richard Dunn, alias Denham, on a charge that he was- a rogue and 'a vagabond. Patrick Oates, whoso stnmgo behaviour in Court recently attracted.attention, was further remanded for observation as to his mental condition.
