■ OASES, AT NASEBY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Nasoby, January 22. _ Six appellants camo befbro the Milt' tary Service Board to-day. Three, were dismissed, two adjourned, and' one granted. Ono of tho adjourned; cases was that of George Arniitage, farmer, of Blackstone Hill, who appealed on the ground of hardship. His father, who appealed also, was suffering from an injury. Ono son had been, killed, and another was in camp, whiia a third was to bo examined. The ar>- . peal was adjourned pending the result of tho examination of tho third_ son, tho understanding being that if wore unfit appellant should go. GISBORNE SITTINGS. Cisborne, January 22. Tho Military Service Board sat today, when twenty-two cases were heard. Two appeals on the grounds of over ago were upheld. A somewhat unusual case was that of Thomas Percy Home, station manager. Tolago Bay. His employer, F. J. Lysnar, appealed on' the grounds of public interest and un-' due hardship. Mr. Burnard appeared for the employer, and said that Horno had gonei into camp. Tho chairman said that he did not think anything could be done now in the matter. Mr. Burnard said that his employes had been under tho impression that he had to report himself. Ho did not know that his employer had lodged) an appeal. Captaiu AValker said that thoro was an application from Home to withdraw tho appeal. The case was dis- . missed. William John Simpkin, Church oE England clergyman, at Wairoa, appealed on the ground of public interest.Hβ was about thirty-nine years of age.The Chairman said that he had re« ceived a certificate dated December 30, 1916, from tho Minister of Defence trt the effect that tho calling up of appellant would' bn contrary to tho publio interest, ami therefore tho appeal would bo allowed.
