GERMAN ESTIMATES. (Rec. January 21, 5.5 p.m.) ■ London, January 20. >. German newspapers state that the "United States, from August, 1914, to September,! 1916, shipped, to the Allies £394,000,000 worth of war material, of which 11 per cent, consisted of shells and ammunition, and the remainder of artillery and machine-guns, rifles, motor-cars, horses ami ambulance. The 'American shipments of war material to Europe in eight montlis in 1916 totalled 170 millions.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
