RUMANIAN SITUATION STEADILY IMPROVING
VIGOROUS COUNTER-ATTACK ENEMY DRIVEN BACK ON ALMOST THE WHOLE FRONT Pctrograd, January 19. Telegrams from Rumania indicate that the situation is steadily improving. TJie 'Austro-German offensive has been arrested, and the Russians and Rumanians arc developing a vigorous counter-attack, driving back the enemy several kilometres on almost the whole front, and removing tlio menace to Galata. Heavy rains and floods are. rendering trench, fighting impossible, transforming the.operations into war manoeuvres.
