MASTERTON NOTES
Very high prices were obtained at a stock sale held at Hikorangi, to the east of Masterton, on Thursday. Yearling steers were sold at £13 per head, and store bullocks at £17. Masterton lads have been making good money during the summer school vacation in tho gathering of cocksfoot grass-seed. At the weekly evening run of the Wairarapa Amateur Athletio Club, a 300 yds. handicap was won by L. Wadham, a two-mile bicycle race by A. Tiddall, and a long jump event by W. Grantham. Messrs. 0. E. Daniell and J. C. Yorke havo bpen appointed to represent the Masterton Methodist Circuit at tho Methodist Conference to be held , in Wellington nest month. ; The chief attractions in Masterton on Anniversary Day will be a series of picnics and a gathering in the park in tho evening in aid of the Municipal Brass Band.
