Van Stavoren, and Mesdanies M'Laren, Wilford, and M'Vicar wcro present at t3ii first monthly meeting for tho Now Year of tho Wellington Hospital Bind Charitable Aid Board yesterday.
Lcavo of absence for eight weeks was granted! to Messrs. Howloy, Davies and Fitzgerald, junior house surgeons, in order to enable them to proceed to Duncdin for their final'examination. Mr. Hugh Ward's recent present to tho inmates of tho Wellington Children's Hospital of a number of toys, etc., and t ; ho "Williamson Company's concert at tho institution wcro recorded with thanks.
A report was presented embodying tho resolutions carried at the recent Hospital Bonnls' .Conference. On the suggestion of tho chairman it was decided to hold these over for consideration until the next meeting to enable mombors of the board to be fully seized of their import. Tho gross expenditure for tho Wellington Hospital and kindred institutions for the niiio months ended December 30 last, in comparison with the estimate made: — • Actual. Nurse 2,608 2,422 •£48.12.1 £50,095 A sub-commitleo of the hoard ■ reported that tho hoard having refused to give its consent to Mrs. George surrendering Sections 1 and 2, Salamanca Road, it ho now recommended to givo its consent to the lessee erecting two houses on each section, instead of one on each (four in all), with the special proviso that each' house so erected bo of tho valuo of not less than £500.— Thero was a discussion on the ahovo clause over tho point of the lessee beiug allowed to erect two, instead of ono house on the section, as originally specified. It was pointed out that tho conditions conld be varied by the board, and it was in the.hoard's interest rather than otherwise that two houses should be erected, as it improved tho security.
