A HORSE TRAINEE'S DEATH. By Telegraph—Prese Association. Palmerston North. January 18. At tlio inquest on Christopher Higgins, horse trainer, a verdict was returned of death from shock following an accident caused l>y falling from the balcony of the Central Hotel, following on an attack of delirium tremens. On Wednesday _ evening a soldier fell off the troop train between Ngahauranga and Petoiie, and was almost run over l)v the following train from the City. -Ho was taken on to Lower Hutt, whore his injuries to head and face received attention.
