FIXED PRICES FOR CROPS
OBJECTS OF THE GOVERNMENT. (Rec. January 18, 7.15 p.m.) London, January 17. . Mr. B. IS. Prothero, Minister of Agriculturo, in a speech at Bedford, said the Government was aware that high prices stimulated production, but they weighed unduly on the poorest, therefore lie asked tho fanners, before the seed was sown, to produce crops :it a fixed price. Tho farmers could then say to the whole Empire, "We are all in it; give us a reasonable profit." The Government wanted bread to bo as cheap and as plentiful as possible.— Aus.-N.Z. Cablo Assn.
