News lias been received from London that Lieutenant Rollo Vavasour, of the Koy'al Flying Corps, second boh of Mr. VI. D. Vavasour, of Blenheim. _ died undpr an operation on January 16. Dr. Barclay, who lias been absent on active scrvico on tho hospital ship Maheno, has resumed his duties as superintendent of tho Wellington Hospital. At the meeting held yesterday afteruoon the chairman (Mr. H. Baldwin) extended a hearty welcome back to tho doctor. Replying to tho chairman and other speakers. Dr. Barclay said he was (gratified at the flattering remarks which liatl been mado. His had. not been s>. pleasure trip, as "there had been a, good deal to do. Tho death occurred recently of Arthur Harold Cooksbn, eldest son of Mr. frank Cookson, of 10 Hargreaves Street. Deceased was a native of Christchnrch. Hβ was educated at the Marist Brothers School, and before pnlistiugwas ou the staff of. the Stamp Department. He left New Zealand with ihp Main-Body, and after serving on Gallipoli was invalided home. Hβ was a good all-round athleto, and a most popular young fellow. Extended leavo of absence has been granted to Mr. L. P. Davies, honorary dental surgeon, by the. Wellington Hospital and Charitable Board yesterday. Mr. Davies is about to go into camp.

j\lr. Charles M'lntyre, secretary and founder of tho New Zealand Natives' Association, will go into camp ou Februarv 7.

Dr. 11. B. Leatham, of New Plymouth, has been appointed by tho Health Department to visit thn various hospitals of tho Dominion for_ the purpose of inquiring into the X-ray plants used in those institutions, and the general work of that Department.
