Tho quarterly meeting of the Petone Methodist Circuit was held on Tuesday evening. Tho Rev. A. M'Bean presided, and there were 17 officials present. The reports of tho work in the various parts of the circuit were of an encouraging . nature. Messrs. W. H. Molhuish and F.' Lockwood were reappointed circuit Btowards, Mr. J. Wakeham was appointed representative to tho forthcoming conference, with Mr. J. Jacobson as substitute. Tho balance-sheet showed receipts for the quarter £127 7s-. 2d., and expenditure £122 Is. 3d., leaving a credit balance of £5 6s. lid. It is probable that fresh fruit Trill form a part of tho Italian soldiers' rations in the future. Tlio Italian Minister of Agriculture las proposed to the Minister of War that grapes should be distributed to soldiers on active eervice as well as those in hospital. There is a superfluity of fresh fruit in Italy on account of, restricted exports, and fruit farmers are complaining.
