RETURNED SOLDIERS ON THE LAND

(Rec. January 17, 9.U0 p.m.) Sydney, January 17. ' Mr. W. G. Ashford, Minister for Lands, has announced, in connection with the scheme of placing repatriated soldiers on the land, that for the first twelve months they will be saddled with no responsibility. They will go on tho land, and at the same time will bo paid wages, provided they keep on the land whilo working under expert supervision. Wages will be paid as representing an advance on account of employment. When sufficient farms are fairly established it is intended to adopt a. cooperative system of buying and selling. —Press Association.
