Hiss Howes is not only a 'success/al writer of children's books, but is also an enthusiastic teacher of young children, and has had' somo fourteen years'" experience in this work. Her scientific accuracy is a noticeable feature of her writings,'and for this she was made a life member of the Otago* Institute. The Girls' College is to be heartily congratulated on this latest addition to its ranks. Miss Howes is to be senior mistress of the junior department.
