The Hon. Dr. M'Nab was much improved yesterday. It is likely, howover, that ho will he confined to his bed for a few moro days.

General Sir A. W. Robin, Commandant of the Forces, and General Henderson, Director of Medical Services, left for Christohurch last night on a visit to the Maheno Camp at Aldington. They are to reach Wellington again to-morrow.

Major Graham Robertson has been appointed principal medical officer at Fcatherston, vice Lieut.-Colonel Cook, who lias been transferred to Auckland.

A Press Association message from Sydney records the death of Mr ._ Baillon, general manager in Australia for the Messagerios Maritimes Steamship Company.

Mr. R. W. Holmes, ,Enginoor-in-Chief of tho Public Works Department, has' gone to New Plymouth to inspeot the Waiwakaiho Bridge.

Mr. J. P. Kelly, Mayor of. Eastbourne, lias returned from a visit to Auckland and Rntorua, and resumed his official duties.

Pfco. Arana Mote Kepa (Maori Reinforcements),, whilst on leave from Narrow Neck Camp, Auckland, died on the evening of January 15 at Te Kao. Tho certified cause of death was cerebro congestion.

Mr. W. T. Maok, of Jenkins and Mack, Limited, is in receipt of cable advice to tho effect that his son Arthur, ivlio left New Zealand to join the colours in England, is now in France. Lieut. Mack underwent the major portion of his training with the Royal Horse Artillery, but has been recently transferred to the Royal Field Artillery.

Sergt. J. D. Poppleton (Q.M. Stores, Foatherston) died in Wellington Hospital last night at 11.50 p.m. The certified cause of death not yet to hand From the Base Records Office.

The funeral of the late Mr. Frederick W. S. Bronte, for many years a momher of the head office staff of tho Lands and Survey Department, who died at Rona Bay on Monday, was attended yesterday by a number of Civil Servants, including Messrs. E. H. Wil-mot-t (Survcyor-GenoraU, J. M'Keim'o and J. Strauchon (former occupants of the position of Under-Secretary for Lands). M. C. Smith and W. .Tourdain (Chief Draughtsman and Chief Clerk respectively of tho Lands and Survey Department), Rutherford (Public Works Department), Craig (Government Printing Office), T. Jones (Treasury), and A. Pritchard (Advances to Settlers Department). The burial scrvieo was conducted bv the Rev. Dr. Elliott.

Lieut. M. W. Sprotb, eldest son of tho Bishop of Wellington, has boon mentioned in dispatches. He l was wounded for the second timo on September 15, and was sent to England for hospital treatment. Ho has now recovered and returned to tho front yesterday. Lieut. Sprott volunteered over two years ago, and received a commission as second lieutenant in tho Stli Norfolks. He was recently made battalion bombing officer.

Among the many records of morit in connection with military service is that of the family of Mr. T. E. Sinel, a well-known figure in Auckland shipping circles. In all there arc six sons on active service, and a seventh volunteered, hut, failed to qualify. Among tho number arc. two who are roturning to tho front for the second time. Major W. C. Sinel left with tho Alain Body with rank of captain, and was for 4} mouths on Gallipoli, being twice wounded. Corporal E. J. Sinel was a member of 'the Samoan Expeditionary Force, and later saw service on Gallipoli, whore ho was wounded in July. Both mentioned were invalided homo, and Major Sinel is to command the 21st Reinforcements.
