METHODIST QUARTERLY MEETING
THOKNDON. The quarterly meeting of the abovo circuit was held in the Molesworth Street ■Church on Monday night, the liev. A. Reader (superintending minister) in tho chair. The reports presented showed u total of 255 members on the roll—li 6at Molesworbh. Street, 62 at Karori, and 17 i at Northland. Tho Sunday schools' positions weito' stated as \ follow:—Moleswortli Street, 160 scholars, 'average attendance, 115, teachers 18; Karqri, main school, 60, infant school 30, officers and teachers 12; junior endeavour, 22; Northland 45, average attendance 38; Christian Endeavour, 10; Kaiwarra scholars 55, average attend- I nnce 3G, teachers 7. The statement of , tho income and expenditure for the quartor was presented by the circuit stewards. The receipts amounted to .£123 3s. 2d., and tho payments .£ll3 10s. Bd., showing a credit balance on tho three months' working of ,£9 12s. fkl. Besides these amounts it was notified that a sum of .£25 had.been raised towards paying for a new organ that had been installed in tho Holesworth Street Church. Mr. J. Laurenson was re-elected senior circuit steward, and Mr. W. I. Clark junior circuit steward.
The Bev. C. H. Stamlago, who, thonjjh formally retired from the active work of the ministry two years ago, had come to tho assistance of the circuit when a difficulty arose as to tho appointment of a second minister, announced that howouul reluctantly be compelled to terminate his engagements as from the end of Match. The announcement was received with regret. Cordial acknowledgment of tho work done by Mr. Standago was made by tho superintendent minister and several officers, and a suitable entry ordered to ba made in the minutes. Messrs. Laurenson and Clark were appointed the lay representatives to the forthcoming conference of the Methodist Church of New Zealand, to be held in Wellington on February 22. Messrs. H. S. Hart and J. Kaine were appointed substitute ren'eeentatives.
SOUTH WELLINGTON. The quarterly meeting' of the South Wellington Methodist Circuit was held in J-rmily Schoolroom on Monday evenine when there was a representative gathering presided over by Eev. Mr. Drake. Resolutions of sympathy were passed with the relatives of the late Messrs. W LT Ce, i wH- F Th i' and Mi6S Carsman, ana a letter of condolence was requested to.be eent to Colonel Macintosh, who is at present indisposed. Mr. W H Potts was re-elected circuit steward, nnd Mr. C. H. Cockrell, vice Mr. J. Castle, who , retired on account of. ■ health leasons. Air. It. h. Heron was appointed Foreign Mission treasurer in place of Mr. Jamieeon,'who leaves shortly for Wanganui. A motion of sympathy.with the Eev. A.' ? j A,^ 110 latel y lost his wife, was carried. The representatives to the forthcoming conference are Messrs" J p Sham) and H. Oxley, with Messrs. Potts and Cablo as substitutes.
At the quarterly meeting of the South Waxrarapa Methodist Circuit, Messrs Dixon and Hutton were appointed delegates to attend the \ conference at Wellington in February, and Messrs. Great■head_and Haigh to act as substitutes. Jlr. .Wells and Mrs. Hawko were appointed circuit stewards.
