CORONER'S INQUEST. Mr. W. G. RiddelK S.M., Coroner, held an inquest on Monday touching the death, of Mrs. D. J. Smith (wife of Mr. D. J. Smith, solicitor, Wellington), who died on January 14,, at the Thorndon Private Hospital. After medical evidence had been beard, a verdict was returned that death was due to heart failure, consequent upon an operation for appendicitis and gall stouos.

Mrs. -J. Martin, of tho Lower Hutt, ■who was knocked down by a motor-car on the Hntt Road on Saturday afterwith the result that, she is suffering from concussion of the brain and other"injuries, was .a little better yes.terday.
